LICHEN & MOSS HAT (Skill level 2 of 5 or 1 of 5 if a basic CO used)
Lichen
& Moss is a cosy quick to knit hat. It is worked in two sizes, which can be adjusted for
length depending on the amount of slouch required. An optional pompom
adds the finishing touch. The
brim uses a slip moss stitch which is thick, yet quite stretchy and
it will fit a range of sizes. A small amount of slouch is written
into the pattern. If you’d like more (or less), it’s very easy to
adjust the length as required.

LUGE
Luge is a fast knit cowl in 2 styles with matching fingerless mitts ('wristers'). It is worked in the round and uses cables as well as an open snowflake lace pattern (involving dropped stitches).
The standard loop version (shown left) measures approx. 46''/ 117 cm around & 8.5'' / 21.5 cm deep.
In super bulky (chunky) weight yarn it uses approx. 190 yd / 181 m. I used Rowan Big Wool, 3 balls for the cowl & wristers together.
LUGE DEEPER SHAPED VERSION
This version involves shaping in the pattern and so it a little more difficult than the standard cowl. It does sit very well on the shoulders and is just a little deeper too.
Size approx. 46'' / 117 cm at bottom; 32'' / 81 cm around top; depth 9.5'' / 24 cm.
This version uses approx. 190 yd / 174 cm (although more will be needed if purl rounds are added top & bottom as in the standard version).
LUGE WRISTERS
These are also knitted in the round (using double pointed needles or a short cable if you prefer, although I used the same length cable needle as the cowl & used the 'Magic Loop' technique.
They fit an average woman's hands (allowing for ease of fit): 9'' / 23 cm; length 5.5'' / 14 cm.
They use approx. 60 yd / 55 m.
